The brief called for basic, functional spaces for everyday life, nothing more, nothing performative.

Local materials were woven into the architecture to carry the popular warmth of vernacular buildings, while the overall composition stays unmistakably contemporary. Left unfinished and exposed, every material speaks for itself, the result is a tropical contemporary language that feels both rooted and current.

Two building masses sit beneath a gable roof that slopes low between them, its silhouette breaking into sharp, angular planes at the corners. The façade is dominated by natural materials: local mountain stone, raw old teak, and unfinished black steel, layered with a gabion stone wall and steel pergola at the entrance that read almost like a second skin to the building.

Inside, the dining area and kitchen merge into a single linear sequence with the living room. Without additional walls or partitions, the space reads larger than its actual footprint, one continuous gesture rather than three separate rooms.
